The Castlemaine Football Netball Club (CFNC) competes in the Bendigo Football Netball League (BFNL) and the Bendigo Junior Football League (BJFL) and has a rich history dating back to 1859.
Our home, the Camp Reserve, was Castlemaine’s major settlement during the gold rush. Now Mount Alexander Shire’s biggest recreation reserve, CFNC footballers and netballers take to the fields and courts at the Camp every home game weekend. It’s also home to the Castlemaine Cricket Club and the Castlemaine & District Agricultural Society (The Castlemaine Show).
Celebrating the club’s heritage will be central in 2019 when teams will wear the heritage monogramed jumper in recognition of our long and proud history and connection to the Castlemaine community. The Magpie colours will still be visible on game day in our warm up uniform.
At the CFNC we are extremely proud of our role in the community. We are recognised as a Good Sports Club, actively participating in and developing programs to provide a safe and inclusive environment, where everyone can get involved.
We are fortunate to be participating in the 2019 Pride Game celebrating the LGBTQI community and inclusion for all members of our community. We will also continue to pay tribute to those who have helped shape our community and provide enlightenment and education through our Indigenous and Vietnam Veteran’s Rounds. We encourage everyone to support these very special days.
We are also extremely pleased to be launching our new Player Welfare Program in 2019. Developed with the assistance of Central Victorian Primary Care Partnership, Sports Focus and Sports Chaplaincy Australia.
Statistics tell us that we are far more likely to attend to a strained hamstring than a period of anxiety or depression. Our new program will provide members of our club with ways of dealing with any personal or crisis issues that any of our players or members may be enduring access to skilled professionals and training.
Castlemaine Football Netball Club is always looking for more people to get involved with our great club whether that’s in a formal role or a social one. There are a number of social events and a packed fixture of strong competition for the season ahead.
If you have an interest or skills in statistics and data analysis, committee or coaching roles, time keeping or training, or if you would simply would like to help out on Saturdays or through the week, we’d love to hear from you.
We also have positions available for qualified bar management and staff.
