Castlemaine Football Netball Club Life Membership Policy
Life Membership Criteria
Nominations for Life Membership must be made on the official Life Member Nomination Form. The Nominee must be nominated and seconded by existing financial members of the Castlemaine Football Netball Club, one of which must be an active member (as the holder of historical knowledge). The Nominee for Life Membership must have given a minimum of 10 years continuous membership or continuous service with the Castlemaine Football Netball Club, unless exceptional services have been given, deemed by the current Executive Committee. Length of Membership (10 years) alone is not appropriate. The Nomination must articulate the reasons why Life Membership is considered appropriate and where possible, examples of work or involvement which have significantly progressed the Castlemaine Football Netball Club should be cited. Nominations must be submitted to the Secretary no later than six (6) weeks before the AGM.
All Nominations are to be treated with the strictest of confidence. Once a nomination is received, the CFNC Secretary must convene the Executive Committee consisting of a minimum of three (3) CFNC Committee members and one (1) current Life Member to review all valid nominations. The Committee will prepare a report on each nomination summarising the successful or unsuccessful nominees. The Executive committee will only consider nominations made since the last Annual General Meeting. These reports are required to be submitted prior to the last General Meeting before the end of the current playing season. Successful nominees will be presented with their Life Membership status of the CFNC at the end of season presentation.
Criteria for Consideration:
- Verification of the date the nomination was received (must be no later than (6) six weeks prior to the Annual General Meeting);
- Verification that both the proposer and seconder are financial members of the CFNC and that one is an active member;
- Verification that the nominee is a financial member or active supporter of the CFNC;
- Verification that the nominee has been a continuous financial member or active supporter of the CFNC for the minimum 10 year requirement (less than 10 years may be considered if exceptional circumstances are involved as deemed by the Executive Committee); and
- Be satisfied that the work and or involvement indicated, has significantly progressed the Club’s development.
The nomination is to be decided by majority vote of the Executive Committee. A report will be prepared to be ratified by the Committee at the last General Meeting prior to the end of the current playing season. The decision is final and if a nomination is not endorsed by the Executive Committee an additional nomination is able to be submitted in future financial years.
An Official Life Membership Plaque and Badge will be presented at the end of the current playing season on presentation night. The Life Member’s name will be displayed on the CFNC website. The Life Member’s name will be added to the CFNC archives of Life Members. The Life Member’s Membership fee will be waived indefinitely (excludes any monies owed for Insurance purposes). The Life Member may optionally join the Executive Committee.
Further significant work or involvement that progress’s the CFNC’s development could see the Life Member nominated for a Perpetual Club Award named in their honour. Life Membership is NOT automatically given to a spouse. A spouse must be nominated in their own right.
Nomination for Perpetual Trophy Naming Right:
A Life Member can be nominated and seconded by any Committee member at any General Meeting. Guidelines for the endorsement from the Committee would then fall within general discussion on points of continuous exceptional service by the Life Member. Length of membership alone is not appropriate. On having been ratified the CFNC would purchase the initial Perpetual Trophy and any subsequent trophy that is linked, may be paid for by the Life Member as a show of generosity.
Forfeiture of Life Membership:
Life Membership is absolutely forfeited upon any failure to observe any by-laws or constitutional requirements. Life Membership will be forfeited upon the passing of a Special Resolution by the Executive Committee at the next available Committee Meeting. Life Membership may be forfeited for reasons including but not limited to, bringing the name of the CFNC into disrepute.
